Description

An inactivated bivalent vaccine for the active immunization of pigeons against salmonellosis (paratyphus) — one of the most damaging bacterial diseases affecting racing and breeding lofts. Salmonella outbreaks can cause young bird mortality, infertility, "leg paratyphus" with wing and leg paresis, and lasting damage to a loft's reputation. Annual vaccination is the foundation of any serious paratyphus prevention program.

Indications

Active immunization of pigeons against salmonellosis caused by:

  • Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Typhimurium
  • Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Enteritidis

Composition

One dose contains:

  • Inactivated Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Typhimurium — minimum 10⁹ CFU
  • Inactivated Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica serovar Enteritidis — minimum 10⁹ CFU

Target Species

Pigeons.

Contraindications

Do not use in sick birds or in birds suspected of carrying any disease.

Vaccination Schedule

  • Dose: 0.3 ml per bird
  • Route: Subcutaneous or intramuscular injection

Young Pigeons:

  • Primary vaccination possible from 4 weeks of age
  • Booster vaccination recommended 21–28 days after the primary dose

Adult Pigeons:

  • One dose annually, administered at least 14 days before the show or racing season begins

Adverse Reactions

A post-vaccination reaction may occur in 1–3% of vaccinated birds.

  • 30 ml vial — 100 doses

Shelf Life

  • 12 months unopened
  • Once opened: use within 24 hours and discard any unused portion

  • Store refrigerated between 2 °C and 8 °C (36 °F – 46 °F)
  • Store in a dark, dry place
  • Do not freeze
  • Keep out of reach of children
  • Do not use after the expiration date
